India-Somalia relations
India established its diplomatic presence in Somalia by opening an embassy in Mogadishu in 1961, marking the beginning of formal bilateral relations between the two nations. However, the embassy was closed in 1991 due to the outbreak of the Somali Civil War, a conflict that led to instability and chaos in the country.
